Plains Coreopsis (Coreopsis tinctoria)

Mature annual plant as seen in May through June.  Plants up to four feet tall with lower leaves divided into narrow, linear, or lance-shaped segments; upper leaves narrow and undivided.  Flower heads numerous, 1-inch in diameter, ray flowers yellow or orange with brown base, disk flowers dark purple or brown.
