COMMON NAME: Red Horned Poppy
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Glausium carniculatum
TYPE: Winter Cool-season Broadleaf Weed
DESCRIPTION                                                            
    Germination: September-October.
    Reproduction: By seed from May-July.
    Stems: Branched, short hair.
    Leaves: Deeply lobed, feather shaped lower, sessile upper, short grayish hair.
Flowers/
Inflorescence:
Solitary, terminal, 2 sepals, 4 red to yellow petals
Fruit: Long 2-celled capsule, many black seed/fruit.

FOUND:

Primarily in western counties.

CONTROL:

Medium competitiveness, Control in seedling stands with fall applications of BUTYRAC 200, and fair control in established stands with VELPAR.
