ID Features: | This 12- to 42- inch tall bunchgrass grows in tufts, erect, with flat overlapping sheaths. Foliage turns reddish brown with straw yellow stems on maturity and tastes like molasses. The 2- to 4-inch long, twisted, one-awned, fuzzy, brown florets fall, leaving overlapping florets which look like braid. | |
