Common Chickweed
Vegetative plant. Key characteristics: young leaves are opposite, smooth, and spatulate with entire margins.
Growth habit. Common chickweed grows in thick mats. Often, the long internodes are reddish-brown in color.
Flower. Key characteristics: flowers are small, white and have 5 deeply cut petals.
Seed. Seed are rough-textured, nearly round and have a diameter slightly less than 1.0 mm.
