Buckhorn Plantain

COMMON NAME: Buckhorn Plantain, English Plantain, Ribwort, Ribgrass, Narrowleaf Plantain
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Plantago lanceolata L.
TYPE: Perennial Cool-season Broadleaf
DESCRIPTION                         
    Germination: September-November
    Reproduction: By seeds.
    Stems: Stemless, leafless shape with stem inconspicuous.
Flowers/
Inflorescence:
Dense spike, flowers sessile, four small petals.
 
    Leaves: All basal, linear (grass-like).
    Fruit: Two seeds per capsule, boat shaped seeds.

FOUND:

In newly planted spring stands and in thinning alfalfa stands in northeastern Oklahoma.

CONTROL:

Only time controlled is in seedling stand with application of BUTYRAC 200 in October-November.
