Established Stands: Review summer weeds control.
Some herbicide options (Pursuit®, Sinbar®, Zorial®)
should be applied after first cutting in late April or early May. April Weed Control in Seedling Stands: It is important to control weeds in spring-planted alfalfa as soon as seedling alfalfa has two true leaves. If winter weeds are outgrowing fall-planted alfalfa, it is important to harvest early. Once alfalfa is shaded, it stops growing and stand loss can result in May if cutting is delayed due to warm wet weather. |
