- July Weed Control in Established
Stands: Scout regrowth after haying old fields
to determine if summer weeds need spraying. If selling dairy quality hay is planned, then
control of summer weeds like pigweeds, crabgrass, and foxtails may be profitable. Butyrac®
200 will control small pigweeds (less 4 inches tall) and Poast Plus® will
control small weedy grasses.
- July Weed Control in Seed Production
Stands: Dodder should be controlled in the cutting before going for alfalfa seed
crop. It includes mowing close and using Gramoxone® Extra within 5 days of
cutting.
- Grazing weedy alfalfa in July and August should be
considered rather than trying to control weeds with a herbicide.
