OKLAHOMA ALFALFA PRODUCTION CALENDAR

Weed Control

Seedling Stands:  Do not use Glean®, Amber®, or Finesse® to control weeds on the wheat crop preceding the planting of alfalfa. Residues of these herbicides can seriously damage seedling alfalfa.

Cool-season weeds start active growth again in the spring, and some can still be selective controlled in fall planted stands. Examples are ryegrass controlled with Poast Plus® (spring applications are poor on most other winter grasses) and cutleaf eveningprimrose controlled with Butyrac® 200 (spring applications are poor on most mustards).
