New Zealand Portion of Cruise Trip

It is February 20, 2019 and Lanee and I are flying out of San Angelo, Texas headed to Brisbane, Australia to catch the Sea Princess for a 14 day cruise around New Zealand. The plane took off from the San Angelo, Texas airport at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20; Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas at 5:40 p.m.; Los Angelos, California at 10:55 p.m.; and Sydney, Australia 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22 and arrived at Brisbane, Australia 3:30 p.m. on February 22, 2019. During flight we crossed the dateline and lost Thursday.

When we arrived in Brisbane we found that Cyclone Oma had worked its way into Australia resulting in a three day delay of our ship. We enjoyed our extra days exploring Brisbane, Australia. We boarded the Sea Princess on February 27, 2019 headed to Wellington, New Zealand. We will miss getting to see the south island of New Zealand. Stops missed included Akaroa, Dunedin, Picton and the Fiordland National Park (it is suppose to be one of the most beatiful places in the world). Still plenty of places to see in other parts of the world.

On March 3, 2019 we arrived on the North Island of New Zealand and started our new adventure. It took three days to cross "The Ditch" (Tasman Sea). Our stops included:

  • Wellington, New Zealand (March 3, 2019) -- 1599 miles (PDF of Web Page)
  • Napier, New Zealand (March 4, 2019) -- 227 miles (PDF of Web Page)
  • Tauranga, New Zealand (March 5, 2019) -- 321 miles (PDF of Web Page)
  • Auckland, New Zealand (March 6, 2019) -- 156 miles (PDF of Web Page)

We then were at sea three day and arrived back to Brisbane, Australia on March 9, 2019. -- 1520 miles

Total miles for the trip was 18,355 miles by air, 13,361 miles by ship, and less than 1,000 miles in cars, buses and ferries.
